This is my first go at shooting an image in High Dynamic Range (HDR) and I’m over the moon with the results as the shot evokes the eerie, gritty mood that wanted to portray, emphasised by the detail in the dramatic clouds overhead. I shot this image as an establishing shot for an audio slideshow I have been working on with a colleague based on the story of a group of protesters who were squatting at this disused house on the Pershore Road in Edgbaston, Birmingham. The cause, Justice not Crisis (www.justicenotcrisis.wordpress.com), believes that there is not enough socially funded housing available to those in need, especially when there are so many houses standing empty in Birmingham. The squatters have now moved on and the house once again lies empty so I’m happy that I managed to capture this image while I could to record a little slice of local history…..
