I couldn’t believe my luck earlier this year when I was breezing around The Big Chill festival in Herefordshire and I realised that one of my favourite British photographers, Rankin, was shooting portraits of festival goers for his 2009 exhibition, RankinLive!! Obviously, I jumped at the chance to get involved and for a mere £50 (which all went to charity anyway) I not only got my hair and make up done, which I was very happy about considering I had been festering in a tent for the last 3 nights, but I also had the chance to meet and be photographed by one of the most iconic photographers of my generation.
Given Rankin’s god like status in the photography world (I think people underestimate just how much hard work it takes to get where he is!) he was such a warm, down to earth guy and he didn’t mind too much when I hugged him hello AND goodbye (I was excited, OK?!). His wife, model Tuuli Shipster, also popped in to see her husband while I was waiting to be photographed which was also pretty exciting given that at that very moment I was leafing through Rankin’s book ‘Tuulitastic’, a photographic homage to his beautiful wife….. then there she was in the flesh!
I had my lovely friend Marie on hand during the shoot taking a few shaps of the shoot itself so I’ve posted them them here along with the finished photo in his iconic style which I LOVE! The shoot itself was beyond amazing and I felt like a kid at christmas afterwards!!
GLAMMING IT UP
